日本のうちはふすまとしょうじとたたみとおしいれとげんかんとおふろがあります。でも アメリカのうちはふすまとしょうじとたたみとおしいれとげんかんとおふろがありません。
American houses are not made of wood and do not have paper screens. The reason for the Japanese ones to have them is possibly because of the high frequency of earthquakes. Wood and paper are much lighter than cement and are better for human survival when an earthquake does happen.
American houses also do not have たたみ and おしいれ. Instead, they have separate bedrooms and people sleep on beds instead of on the floor. I think one possible reason is that Japan is relatively small in size but with a large population. By using a room both for daily routine and sleeping is much more efficient than having two separate rooms.
In addition, Japanese houses have おふろ which is not often seen in other countries. I think this is just a cultural difference. Maybe the Japanese enjoy having a relaxing time in the bathtub after washing and rinsing.
